Ms. Elyse Emerich

Piano Instructor, Accompanist

Hello! My name is Elyse Emerich and I have been teaching piano for over 15 years. I truly love being an ambassador to music and helping people learn to play the piano. I enjoy teaching students of all ages and ability levels. I think learning to play music is inherently fun, but can be even more fun when learning familiar songs and pieces- which is why I like to include my students' musical preferences in selecting repertoire for study. I also have a passion for helping people learn the fundamentals of music theory, so they can apply them at the piano to create their own music through composition and improvisation.

While at OU, she received special recognition for her research paper and presentation, "Pastoral Scenes in Beethoven's 15th Piano Sonata". Elyse then studied with Harold Martina and Dr. Ann Gipson at Texas Christian University, where she graduated with Honors in 2014 and received her Masters of Music degree in Piano Pedagogy.  In 2012, Elyse traveled to Eisenstadt, Austria, to participate in the Classical Music Festival, where she performed in the Haydnsaal at the musically historic Esterházy Palace.

Elyse taught private piano lessons for a number of established studios in both Oklahoma and Texas before launched her Key of Life Music Studio out of her home upon her relocation to Virginia in 2017. During her time at TCU, she instructed many private students through the TCU Music Preparatory Division,  as well as many group classes for both children and adults. Elyse also enjoyed teaching a group piano class at a Fort Worth ISD elementary school for an outreach program supported by the Cliburn Foundation.

Elyse played vibraphone as a member of the Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps from 2008-2010, winning the Drum Corps International World Championship in 2008 and earning the Fred Sanford High Percussion award in both 2008 and 2010. She also spent five summers instructing the front ensemble at the Oregon Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps, where she met her husband, Brad.

Currently, Elyse is living in Rothselberg, Germany, while her husband is stationed at Ramstein Air Base. She teaches lessons both in-person and online and loves spending time with her dog, Turtle, and her two cats, Maebe and Mila.
